Members’ Orientation Day

Hi members!

On behalf of the board, I would like to express our gratitude to you for you presence in our first orientation two days ago. We hope that you had just as much fun as we had. =)
For those who missed out on the orientation, fret not because here is a summary of the key points that we mentioned during our Orientation (Just so that everyone knows what is happening!)

  1. There are two types of members: Junior Committee members (Active involvement in helping out) and Normal Members (Part of our mailing list so you will get first-hand update of any of our charter or CPA events).
  2. Normal members can become Junior Committee members just by e-mailing us! (E-mail to me at chyesoon89@hotmail.com, or Aaron, Vice President at looyuxun@yahoo.com)
  3. As most events in the first half of the year are already in "organising" stage led by the Board, JC members will only be called up to assist in organising events in the second half of the year, namely Teambuilding Camp (July) and Accounting Week (Oct). Although they are still a few months away, our preparation work is going to start soon!
  4. Those who signed up to become Junior Committee members will receive another e-mail from us soon once our event leaders are ready to communicate with you!

Below are some pictures during the orientation!

TUC CPA Student Charter Members’ Orientation

Poster 1 copy

Coming up next is the Orientation day for all the Student Charter (effectively also Accounting Club) members! With this, TUC-CPA Student Charter is pleased to kick start the very 1st orientation for all the members. The details are as follow:

Date:     24th March 2009 (Tuesday)

Time:     2.15pm-4.00pm

Venue:   Room 6.21 (TBS Building)

The session will be about introduction of Accounting Club/CPA Student Charter and networking games so that everyone gets to mingle around!

This orientation would be a good opportunity for all of you to get to know more about the club and its functions. Also, you would have the chance to join in the committee and learn more through various learning curves provided, such as event-organising, trips, career fairs, camps, networking opportunities and so forth. In addition to that, we will be organising the Accounting Day and CPA Leadership Conference on a large-scale basis this year, and thus, we would need a strong committee to carry out these events.

Looking forward to see all of you on that day!

KPMG Company Trip

On the 4th of November 2008, the CPA Student Charter organised a company trip to one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms in the world, KPMG at their new headquarters in Bandar Utama.

The objectives of this trip are to to expose the working culture in KPMG as it is one of the big four accounting firm. This will allow students to understand and prepare themselves to the working environment. Besides this will also serve as a good starting point for their future employment.

Furthermore, this company trip also enable students to understand more about the operation, structure and policy of the company. This will enable students to fully understand the fundamental knowledge of the company. This will act as a good requirement when any one of the students applies for a career in KPMG as he/she will have knowledge about the insight of the company.

In conclusion, the CPA Student Charter members gained valuable insight to the culture and experience of working in a an international accounting firm. Although this trip was organised by our Treasurer, Pretib, other members also learned and gained new experience and know-how of organizing a company trip. This will add their experience and teach them the formal procedure when engaging with the corporate people.
